This week, we're changing the way the world thinks about vulnerabilities. Again. In less than 100 days (96 to be accurate!) we've integrated Nyx's Function-level visibility technology, from an acquisition to a live feature on the Upwind platform. I'm excited to introduce an enhanced Vulnerability Management experience, it's a step-change in how we define, detect, and prioritize vulnerabilities. We're elevating the way we talk about CVEs and bringing forward a smarter, more operational approach. What’s New? ?? An Upgraded CVE Prioritization Funnel Our well-known 6-stage CVE funnel just got better—now with 7 stages. But that’s the "boring" part. Two New Core Concepts You Need to Know 1. ?? Runtime Exposure CVEs These are CVEs we've been championing for the past two years. They meet critical criteria like: Actively in-use packages + Exposed to internet traffic + Known exploits + Available fixes + critical severity. This filtering reduces noise by ~90%, focusing only on the vulnerabilities that matter. 2. ?? Runtime Exploit CVEs (New) ?? This is where Nyx's technology shines. These CVEs are a subset of Runtime Exposure CVEs, but with a key addition: We validate whether the actual function that enables the exploit is actively being called in runtime. This means: The vulnerable code isn’t just present—it’s running. ??♂? The endpoint isn’t just exposed—it’s actively triggering exploitable behavior. ?? ?? What You’ll See in the Product Our Vulnerabilities dashboard will now highlight 3 main numbers 1. Total CVEs ?? 2. Runtime Exposure CVEs ?? 3. Runtime Exploit CVEs??? ?? And for every CVE on every resource, we’ll introduce a new side panel with: (1) Exploit Conditions: OS context, port exposure, package versions, etc. (2) Runtime Evidence: Direct proof that the vulnerable function is being invoked. ?? How It Works Behind the Scenes It's actually very simple, powered by two core components: ?? + ?? 1. LLM-Powered Analysis ?? Our language model scans CVEs, extracts vulnerable function names, and understands the exact conditions under which an exploit can occur. 2. eBPF-Based Runtime Validation ?? Our sensors use eBPF to trace whether the identified vulnerable functions are actually being executed in real time—per language, per framework, per environment. This launch brings more than just clarity, it brings confidence. You’ll know which CVEs matter, why, and when they’re a real threat. On a more operational note -- M&As are never easy.
